I have known Susan Oshie for over 20 years, both in her role as a veterinary technician and as a trainer.
I highly recommend Susan's services, and her puppy training classes are the only ones I recommend.

I am writing to recommend Sue Oshie to anyone interested in training for their canine companion. Sue has helped my husband and I with a very difficult dog that we adopted when he was 2 years old. He suffered from severe fear/aggressive behavior towards my husband and we were considering euthanasia due to this problem. We had consulted with two animal behavior specialists before working with Sue and had become very discouraged. Sue was extremely helpful to us both in working with our dog Mickey --building his confidence and making him less afraid and also working with us in our home to show us how to interact with Mickey to help him overcome his fears. Thanks to Sue's talent and knowledge we have a very happy dog in our home at this time.

After 11.5 years, I lost my dog (and best friend) to cancer in March. He was one of the great ones -- one of those dogs that has been everywhere and done everything with you. After a couple months, I decided I was ready for another companion -- things just weren't the same without a canine at home. I adopted Jesse, an 8-month old Pointer mix from the Bellevue Humane Society in May. She is very sweet but had a few "issues" and an unknown background. Susan gave me great advise regarding dealing with Jesse's fear of men. Then we started the basic obedience course in June. I found this to be a great review of good training techniques as I haven't personally trained a puppy for 12 years! I feel Susan did a great job explaining why she uses her techniques (i.e. what goes on in the dog's mind and how they learn). Susan's classes really give a good foundation for your home training sessions. I happily recommend her to my clients.

I was at a point with my then 8 month old Golden Retriever “Lexie” where I was losing a grip on the training and she was gaining the upper hand. I sought out Susan Oshie who turned out to be so much more then a professional dog trainer. She presents herself in the most pleasant manner, expresses a kind and gentle approach to the process and most of all, takes the time to educate the owner about why dogs behave the way they do and how to effectively understand and respond to them and get them to respond to you accordingly. She taught Lexie and I how to communicate and how to respect one another’s needs. It is |
| an ongoing process no doubt but it makes so much more sense when you have someone available to help you navigate through it more smoothly. Her class was outstanding and the 3 months one-on-one training was invaluable. Lexie and Susan have a mutual fondness for one another and I came out with not only a well trained dog but also a new friend who I have a great deal of respect for. I would highly recommend Susan Oshie to anyone needing to train a new puppy or polish up on skills in general. |

Some reviews from Seattle City Search
When my wife and I got our Golden Retriever Zoe she was already 6 months old and lived in someone's backyard in the country her whole life. When we picked her up and brought her to our small home in Ballard, we almost went crazy... until we found Susan. She helped us with Zoe through Basic and Intermediate training. We even scheduled some private sessions with Susan at Greenlake to help us socialize Zoe with other dogs and people. When we started class, she couldn't even play friendly enough with the other dogs to be taken off the leash. Susan's willingness to answer questions and help you work through problem behaviors is why her class will always be the best one in Seattle. Thanks to Susan training US we were able to train Zoe. She is now a loving member of our family that we love to take for coffee or to the farmer market on the weekend. Now Zoe is great with other dogs and people. We highly recommend this class to all dog owners; however, it is a must if you want a friendly and polite City dog.
Amazing Puppy Training!

Our Puggle, Barkley, was a little terror until we found Susan. After just one class, Barkley was already learning how to behave and more importantly, teaching us to communicate with our dog. I encourage anyone with a new puppy or a dog needing more training to talk to Susan Oshie! She is amazing, and the class was a ton of fun!
I have taken two of the classes with my dog Ellie. Ellie learned so much. It is fun to have a dog that is so well trained. I learned so many techniques that traning has become fun and easy. Ellie also had the time of her life playing with all the other puppies. Susan is really great and thourough. She explains why certain commands are important for the health and safety of the dog, as well as personal sanity! Her techniques paved the way for me to have a wonderful, healthy relationship with my dog for the rest of her life. Susan is a great teacher. I would highly recommend taking one of her classes.
We (myself, my husband, and our french mastiff, Huck) went through puppy kindergarten, basic, intermediate, and private training through Paws4training and we plan to do good citizenship. We like Susan because her training focuses on positive reinforcement, consistency, and follow through and her technique is hugely successful. Susan is very effective with dogs (and they love her, Huck included) and she does a great job educating the owners on how to get that same respect. You also learn how dogs should properly socialize with eachother as well as addressing any specific needs/concerns. Puppy kindergarten was a highlight of our Saturdays!
Edith the Corgi and I attended Paws 4 Training's Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Obedience, and Intermediate Obedience classes with great success. Both people and dogs receive positive coaching in all of the basics plus have training tailored to specific needs. Did I mention that dogs love Susan? It's nuts. Edith's eyes light up and her butt (no tail) wags as soon as she sees her, and she immediately falls into line. Better yet, Susan teaches you the skills to get that attention focused on you and have your dog follow your lead. I highly recommend her services, whether it be a class or one on one training.
